Neil Hamburger
http://www.americasfunnyman.com/

Despite his appalling comic timing, muddled delivery, and cliched material, stand-up Neil Hamburger nevertheless emerged as one of the most acclaimed and name-checked comedians of his generation; like Lenny Bruce before him, he was a hipster icon whose trailblazing riffs defied conventions at every turn, transcending the confines of hilarity with kamikaze recklessness. Prior to his ascendance, comedians were expected not only to be funny, but insightful as well; Hamburger changed all that forever, in the process earning so much respect from our cultural tastemakers that his records appeared exclusively on only the most rarefied indie-rock labels.

A native of Culver City, CA, Hamburger began his comedy career on the advice of his psychiatrist, who suggested performing as a means of therapy; packing his belongings into a Los Angeles storage locker, he mounted a relentless touring schedule, claiming to play upwards of 360 nights a year yet somehow earning a nagging reputation for last-minute cancellations. Following a gig in Needles, CA, Hamburger was approached by manager Art Huckman, a longtime showbiz svengali whose past proteges included Rich Little and the Ritz Brothers; with Huckman at the helm, the comedian’s career blossomed, and in 1993 he appeared on the Great Phone Calls compilation. Hamburger’s solo debut, the Looking for Laughs EP, followed a year later, and after issuing Bartender, the Laugh’s on Me on the tiny Planet Pimp label, he moved to Drag City for his 1996 full-length debut, appropriately titled America’s Funnyman.

With 1998’s Raw Hamburger, he shifted gears, working “blue” for the first time; ever the restless innovator, Hamburger then turned topical for the follow-up EP, Tribute to Lady Di, a heartfelt homage to the late People’s Princess. Although the constant grind of touring ultimately forced the breakup of the comic’s marriage, he forged ahead, expanding his itinerary to include international gigs as well; for 1999’s Left for Dead in Malaysia, he even faced a non-English speaking Kuala Lumpur crowd. Hamburger remains the iron horse of comedy, touring non-stop, releasing new albums like 2000’s Inside Neil Hamburger, and, one hopes, continuing work on his long-planned religious comedy LP, Laugh Out Lord. His connections to Amarillo Records honcho Greg Turkington remain unclear. - ©1992-2008 All Media Guide, LLC

Daiquiri
http://www.myspace.com/daiquiri

Daiquiri is a 2-piece electronic/punk/metal/dance band from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. MikeH provides the vocals and Lee Neuton plays live guitar. When recording, Lee plays the bulk of the instruments (guitar, bass, synths, drums, programming) while MikeH adds samples and noise using his own homemade circuit-bent instruments. An iPod provides the backing tracks when Daiquiri performs live.

Originally formed in 1999 as a four piece rock band, Daiquiri evolved from it’s previous incarnation, known as Brandon Walsh.

After several appearences on The Tom Green Show, Mike & Lee recruited Tom’s sidekick Glenn Humplik to become their fulltime guitarist, although that would come to an end upon The Tom Green Show moving from New York City to Los Angeles, CA.

As a result shortly after releasing their debut album, 2001’s “Third World Budget”, losing their guitarist, and ditching their bassist, Daiquiri took on more of an experimental “electro-punk” sound which can be found on their sophomore release, 2003’s “Box Office Poison”.

In 2005 Daiquiri finally released their third full length studio album, “Babies Making Babies”, and continue to tour globally, typically playing non-stop all across North America in between trips oversea’s. 2008 will see the release of at least 2 new CDs. One, titled “Flower Shaped Num Nums”, is a collection of covers. The other will be a new full-length.

In addition to the band, lead singer MikeH also briefly hosted his own weekly internet radio talk show, The Mike & Phil Show, along side Phil Giroux (of “Tom Green Show” fame.) Meanwhile guitarist Lee Neuton can also be found playing for The Sun Through a Telescope, Fuck The Facts, Lauderdale and The Bronze in his spare time.

Daiquiri recently made a couple of appearances for Tom Green Live, alongside comedian Neil Hamburger, former wrestling star Chyna Doll, and DJ EZ Mike (of The Dust Brothers, who they performed live on the show with), and Daiquiri can be found on Faith No More’s “Tribute Of The Year” album. - CD Baby

Hugs & Kisses

This trio, featuring two members formerly of The Bravado, is quite a unique act in town. These boys assemble some pleasantly goofy jams in the lab and then come to the stage to act out their recordings. Their performance at September’s Daymon Day Parade show was a damn good time while also a fitting portion of the night’s bill. Look out for costumes and wackiness.
