Sherwood
http://www.myspace.com/sherwood

Not many bands that have played the Vans Warped Tour claim the Beatles and the Beach Boys as their musical idols. Sherwood, an indie quintet from San Luis Obispo, CA, fit neatly alongside the pop-punk likes of Yellowcard and other post-Green Day acts, but with an unapologetic power pop side that gives them a distinctly melodic edge.Taking their name from an early band joke about writing a concept album that meshes with the 1973 Disney Robin Hood cartoon in the way that Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon supposedly meshes with The Wizard of Oz, Sherwood formed in late 2002 while its members were students at Cal Poly State University. Originally consisting of singer and guitarist Dan Koch, bassist Nate Henry, and guitarist Chris Armstrong, the group was completed with the addition of drummer Joe Greenetz and keyboard player Mike Leibovich. The band’s self-released debut, 2004’s The Summer EP, and an opening slot on the Vans Warped Tour that summer caught the attention of pop-punk label SideCho Records, which signed the band later that year. Sherwood’s full-length debut album, Sing, But Keep Going, was released in May 2005. Touring came next, of course, and the guys logged time throughout the year with bands like This Providence, Tokyo Rose, and Daphne Loves Derby. Armstrong exited in early 2006 to return to school, as the band’s profile steadily grew thanks to the support of popular news blog, AbsolutePunk.net. Sherwood (now a quartet) eventually inked a new deal with MySpace Records that fall and released A Different Light in March 2007. - ©1992-2009 All Media Guide, LLC

The Great Transparency
http://www.myspace.com/thegreattransparency

For fans of Jimmy Eat World and Switchfoot: We are The Great Transparency from Columbus, OH. We aim to craft songs that are real, honest, and fun. We, each one of us on earth, have a story to tell. Some of us use our words on paper, others may speak them. Some don’t even speak at all. We choose to show our intentions through song, through who we are, and through the gifts that God has given us.

The Ballroom
http://www.myspace.com/TheBallroom

The Ballroom is a five piece rock band from central Ohio started by Zach Schwartz and Miah Wagner (Now of The Great Transparency) in Mt. Vernon, Ohio while they both attended Mt. Vernon Nazarene University. The Band draws influences from bands ranging from the indie/emo rock bands Copeland and Silverstein, to the popular rock Third Eye Blind to the heavier Norma Jean and Three Days Grace. What was originally an acoustic side project of the Miah’s band Consoling Dara became a full rock band in the Spring of 2005 by adding Steve Fleckenstein on Drums and Justin Prouse on Bass (both original members of Consoling Dara). The band recorded there first EP “Left For Dead” in the Summer of 2005 with CR Pendleton of Pendlwood Studio. When Zach relocated to Columbus, OH, Miah started The Great Transparency and Zach picked up Matt Taylor to fill Miah’s position and Jameson Frere on Drums. Since then a few lineup changes have occured bringing Jameson’s younger brother, Evan, to replace Prouse at bass and is now The Ballroom’s full time drummer. With the addition of a 3rd Guitarist, Jay Ferguson, and Mark Massaro on Bass, The Ballroom is working on their new, currently untitled, EP with The Summit Workshop, due out in the Summer 2009. The Ballroom has shared the stage with such acts as California’s own Pensive to nationally known The Honorary Title as well as better well known Columbus acts such as Silent Surface and Bullet Jones. Look for the new EP this Summer!

Shining As Stars
http://www.myspace.com/ShiningAsStars

We came together from the remains of Jon Lincoln and Tommy Nickel’s former band in the summer of 2008. Ben Bestor (formerly of News To Tell, which also included Tommy) and Mike Bull on guitar joined quickly with Don King filling the final spot on bass. Shining As Stars pulls influences from bands such as Jack’s Mannequin, Relient K, Taking Back Sunday, and All Time Low. Shining As Stars has begun to create a solid fan base in the Canton, OH area and brings fans everything from exciting Pop-Punk, piano laced indie, or heart felt acoustic.
