Savoir Adore

A self-coined “fantasy rock” duo, Brooklyn’s Savoir Adore were born of a rather odd recording session in 2007. After signing to the Cantora label — home of the likeminded neo-psychedelic group MGMT — Savoir Adore released their first album, The Scientific Findings of Dr. Rousseau, in 2007. Although the group recorded its unique work as a pair, the dual vocalists rounded out their sound in concert with a three-piece backup band. Savoir Adore were well received by the fickle New York music press, and drew favorable comparisons to such established names as Postal Service and Broken Social Scene. As the buzz continued to build, the band readied a full-length debut for release in 2009. - ©1992-2009 All Media Guide, LLC

Tin Armor

Indie pop meets punk, and sometimes there’s no place that I’d rather be. Heartfelt, pouring-it-all-out lyrics, delivered in a nasally MORRISEY style, backed up by jangled guitars rocking it out almost as hard as THE THERMALS. I’m a sucker for this, I can already guarantee myself that I’ll be proclaiming this CD as a masterpiece come a very drunken weekend. Did I mention the beautiful packaging to match the bountiful music? If THE HOUSEMARTINS were on No Idea. - Sean Dougan, Maximum Rock’n'roll
