Anni Rossi
http://www.myspace.com/annirossi

A classically trained viola player and multi-instrumentalist, Anni Rossi launched a songwriting career in her early twenties, drawing comparisons to such equally anachronistic musicians as Joanna Newsom. Using the viola to guide her way through folk-classical-pop songs like “Wheelpusher,” not to mention her unique Internet-based take on Radiohead’s “Creep,” Rossi built up a small following in 2007. After “Wheelpusher” was featured as the Single of the Month by the indie label Too Pure in January 2008, Rossi spent the first part of the year touring the British Isles and inked a contract with the longstanding British label 4AD. She then retired to an Illinois studio with producer Steve Albini; the resulting debut album, Rockwell, was released in March 2009.

Hello,

My name is Eve and I play music. I grew up in Juneau, Alaska almost literally under a mountain, next to a glacier. When I was 17, I started writing songs that I wouldn’t share with anyone.

Now, I play in front of and beside people all the time! I like the sound of a weird keyboard beat brushed up against ukulele strumming. My friend Justin plays the harmonium and glockenspiel and also accompanies me sometimes with a noise machine of his own creation.

Feel free to click on the “contact” button above and say hi. If only communication with other people was always as easy as a “contact” button. If only…. In any case, we are friendly people and would love to come to your town and play in your house/craft store/arts center/coffee shop/bar and eat your sandwiches.

Fondly,
Eve
aka, “Bird and Flower”
